Most driving school owners we meet look at one number: the bank balance. That number lies. It hides the slow-bleed problems — three students who stopped showing up, two cars that need service, one instructor who is silently teaching extra-paid lessons on the side.
Here is the Sunday 20-minute report rhythm we recommend to every Driving Sathi owner. It surfaces problems while they are still small.
1. Revenue this week vs last week
Not the bank balance — the actual collected revenue. If it dropped more than 10%, you have either a chase problem (fees stuck) or a demand problem (fewer new students).
2. New enrollments this week
The leading indicator. A four-week dip in new enrollments will show up in your bank balance two months later. Spot it now.
3. Attendance rate (active students)
What percentage of scheduled classes were actually attended? Below 75% means students are losing momentum — call them this week before they drop off.
4. Open invoices > 15 days
Anything aging past two weeks needs a personal call from you (not WhatsApp). Owner calls collect roughly 3x more than office calls.
5. Vehicle utilization
Hours each car was actually in a lesson this week. A car at <40% utilization is either parked or broken. Either way, you are paying for it.
6. Instructor hours vs paid hours
A red flag is when an instructor consistently logs 6 hours but the attendance system only shows 4 sessions. Worth a conversation, gently.
7. New leads not yet enrolled
How many people inquired but did not enroll this week. Below 30% conversion means your office is not following up fast enough. AI Sathi can solve this — see our AI receptionist post.
How to actually do this in 20 minutes
In Driving Sathi these all live on one screen — the Owner weekly review. Print it if you prefer paper, or open it on a phone during your Sunday morning tea. Either way, do it at the same time every week. Consistency beats heroics.
