AI receptionist for driving schools: does it actually answer in Nepali?

A frank look at AI Sathi after six months of live use in 23 centers.

AI receptionist for driving schools: does it actually answer in Nepali?

When we shipped AI Sathi six months ago, we expected calls like "is this real?" and "did a robot really speak Nepali?" We got those, but the more interesting reaction was quieter: owners stopped answering enrollment calls themselves. The receptionist did. In Nepali. At 11 PM.

This is an honest update on what works, what is still rough, and where a human still has to step in.

What AI Sathi actually does

Four assistants, all built on top of the same Nepali-aware language layer:

  • Enroller. Answers WhatsApp and website inquiries about fees, schedules, license requirements. Books trial slots into the calendar.
  • Accountant. Sends fee reminders, accepts payments, sends the receipt back. Escalates non-payers to the office after three soft reminders.
  • Ops. Generates the morning recap (attendance, no-shows, schedule changes) and the evening summary for the owner.
  • Trainer. Sends students short bilingual quizzes before their exam — written test prep in five-minute doses.

What works well after six months

  • After-hours enrollments. About 38% of new enrollments now happen between 7 PM and 7 AM, when the office is closed. Last year this was almost zero.
  • Fee reminders. WhatsApp reminders in conversational Nepali get a 4x reply rate compared to the formal template SMS we used to send.
  • Schedule changes. "Sir, kalai 10 to 11 mathi sarna milxa?" — handled without anyone touching a keyboard.

What is still rough

  • Mixed Nepali-English voice notes occasionally get transcribed strangely. We catch most of these and re-prompt.
  • Refund conversations always go to a human. Money + emotion = human only.
  • Complaints about specific instructors are flagged and escalated immediately. The AI never says “I’ll talk to them.”

What students think

In a 200-student sample we ran in March, 71% said they prefer the AI for "what does the course cost" and "when’s the next slot". 89% said they prefer a human for anything involving a complaint or special arrangement. Use AI for the first 80%, save the human for the last 20%.

What it costs

Free 30-day trial includes only the enroller. The full suite of four agents is included on Monthly and Yearly plans. There are no per-message charges — we absorb the model cost.

If you want to hear AI Sathi answer a question about your school in Nepali, book a demo and tell us your fee structure — we will spin up a sandbox for the call.
